LifeVac is a nonpowered, noninvasive, single-use airway clearance device that resuscitates a person with airway obstruction.

The FDA-registered Class II medical device is meant for use when choking protocols have been followed without success. The device is placed over a choking victim’s mouth and the one-way valve creates a vacuum to dislodge the object in the throat. Its one-way valve does not allow air to enter a person on a downward motion.

LifeVac is designed for consumers and can be used on people weighing as little as 22 pounds. The device is also used by schools and emergency services. There are three kits available for home, travel and EMS applications, each with pediatric and adult masks for a more precise fit based on patient needs.
