GT Medical Technologies’ GammaTile is a surgically targeted radiation therapy (STaRT) for brain tumors.

GT Medical Technologies designed the GammaTile to provide immediate, dose-intense treatment at the completion of resection. The company says the therapy system can extend local recurrence-free survival with minimal complications to reduce patient burden and assure compliance.

The system has a uniform radiation-source spacing to ensure an even distribution of dosages. It is a bioresorbable, conformable collagen tile that preserves healthy tissues. It uses a Cesium-131 radiation source with a half-life of 9.7 days and its design helps limit the radiation exposure to medical staff and caregivers.
