HEALDSBURG, Calif., Jan. 25, 2024 — Cobalt Polymers, a leading manufacturer of heat shrink tubing for the medical device industry, recently announced new management to position the company for continued growth.

Bart Harris was named general manager of Cobalt Polymers. Harris has more than two decades of manufacturing, quality and project management expertise, including 15+ years of medical device operations experience. He also brings a deep understanding of Cobalt’s customers, having served in leadership roles at OEMs Boston Scientific and Medtronic.

Harris leads a seasoned team including director of operations Cheryl Morrison, who has been with Cobalt for nearly 20 years; and production manager Tony Martinez, who has been with the company for 15 years.

To support this transition and ensure continuity, Barry Schnur will serve as interim CEO of Cobalt Polymers. An expert in heat shrink tubing, Schnur has been instrumental in the company’s evolution over the past 20 years, including several of its most innovative products and key customer relationships. His primary role will continue to be CEO of David Schnur Associates (DSA), Cobalt Polymers’ sales partner.

Robert Foley, who had served as President of Cobalt Polymers for more than 20 years, has left the company to pursue other opportunities. “On behalf of everyone at Cobalt Polymers, I want to thank Robert for his leadership and dedication over the past two decades,” Schnur said. “During Robert’s tenure, Cobalt has greatly expanded its range of heat shrink tubing, and these products have been incorporated into hundreds of successful medical devices. We’re grateful for his contributions and wish him well.”

In another indicator of growth, Cobalt Polymers recently made a major investment in a new facility in Healdsburg, Calif., that successfully passed the audit for ISO 13485:2016 recertification. The new building is almost triple the size of the company’s previous space.

“The move to this beautiful new facility, together with our new operations leadership, will accelerate Cobalt’s growth and momentum,” Schnur said. “We will continue to leverage our global sales partnership with DSA and build on the customer service, quality systems and production processes that have allowed us to make heat shrink tubing products that enable incredible therapies.”
