Co-founded by Chief Scientific Officer Yaw Ansong Jr., KovaDx is developing a sickle cell disease diagnostic and monitoring device.

The company says its proprietary 3D phase imaging microscope and deep learning algorithms will help patients monitor their health and manage rare diseases.

They plan to expand to thalassemia and G6PD, followed by multiple myeloma and leukemia.

The startup is funded by the National Science Foundation and the Small Business Administration’s Small Business Technology Transfer program.

KovaDX CEO Song Kim and Chief Technology Officer Tim Adamson are also co-founders.
