CES 2023: Medical technologies you need to know

Over 2,200 companies from around the world are exhibiting at this year’s CES, with many digital health companies promoting new technologies.

Wearables continue to play an important role at the event, which is touting more than 100,000 attendees in person. Some of the technology at the show this year includes a fingertip blood pressure monitor and a home urine test analysis.

Here are a few devices you could check out at this year’s CES tradeshow.

These 14 medical device inventions are the best, Time magazine says

Fourteen medical devices ranging from patient monitoring to surgical robotics recently made it into Time magazine’s Best Inventions of 2022.

For over 20 years, Time magazine has highlighted the 100 most impactful devices and ideas around the world. The list is compiled through nominations from the publication’s editors and global correspondents, with special attention to categories such as medical innovations, green energy and electric vehicles.

Time graded each nominee on a number of key factors that include originality, efficacy, ambition and impact.

Withings appoints Elizabeth Coleon as chief marketing officer

Withings this week announced that it has appointed Elizabeth Coleon as chief marketing officer.

Coleon will lead the Issy-les-Moulineaux, France-based connected health company’s marketing team to grow its consumer devices and health solutions divisions. Withings makes a number of connected health devices such as blood pressure monitors, smartwatches and sleep trackers.

“The last few years have only confirmed the growing need on the part of society to take back control of their health! The challenge of the next few years is to make people aware of the extent to which connected health objects allow the creation of a medical service that benefits each individual and humanity. With her international and service experience, Elizabeth will enable Withings to better communicate the power of a service driven by innovative, contextual and accurate data,” CEO Mathieu Letombe said in a news release.

Withings unveils new remote patient monitoring offering

[Image from Withings]Withings Health Solutions announced today that it unveiled the Withings RPM remote patient monitoring solution.

Boston-based Withings designed its Withings RPM to place patient engagement and satisfaction at the center of the solution, taking complexities out of remote patient monitoring programs and making deployment easier for physicians and convenient, comfortable, simple and enjoyable for patients, according to a news release.

The platform has a simplified onboarding process that requires a few simple clicks, easily managed data from multiple patients with automated alerts and reminders and improved engagement with the ability to send regular communications to patients through their preferred channel of communication.

Withings launches Body Scan smart scale platform

[Image from Withings]Withings announced today that it launched its Body Scan in-home connected health station smart scale platform.

Las Vegas-based Withings’ Body Scan goes beyond weight management to offer a way for users to take proactive control over their health with segmental body composition, heart rate and vascular age monitoring, according to a news release. It also allows users to access coaching, clinical specialists and personalized, holistic plans in-app.
