PTI Engineered Plastics wins industry honors

Medtech supplier PTI Engineered Plastics has been named processor of the year by Plastics News.

The awards are sponsored by the Washington, D.C.-based Plastics Industry Association. Plastics News said the processor of the year award “is the most prestigious honor in the North American plastics processing sector.”

PTI Engineered Plastics is a provider of custom injection molding and contract manufacturing of medical device components and assemblies, with a specialty in low-volume production.

Plastics News said PTI won high marks in all criteria for the award, including financial performance, quality, customer relations, employee relations, environmental performance, industry and public service, and technological innovation.

PTI Engineered Plastics receives MedAccred plastics accreditation

PTI Engineered Plastics recently announced that MedAccred has recognized it for its commitment to continual improvement in medical device quality.

The Macomb, Michigan–based company’s MedAccred accreditation follows a successful audit. MedAccred found that the medical device contract manufacturer demonstrated an ongoing commitment to quality by satisfying customer requirements and industry specifications.

The nonprofit Performance Review Institute administers the MedAccred program. Its EVP and COO Jay Solomond said MedAccred accreditation has global recognition as a hallmark of quality and is a major accomplishment.

PTI Engineered Plastics donating thousands of face shields against COVID-19

PTI Engineered Plastics has collaborated with industrial designers at PTI Design to create a protective face shield that can be quickly produced using injection molding manufacturing — helping to boost the supply of protective equipment for health providers treating people with COVID-19.

The Macomb, Mich.–based company says production of the shields started last week, with a goal of manufacturing 100,000 pieces in total.

PTI Engineered Plastics is coordinating donations with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, hospice care and dental offices. Once more critical requests are met, donations could go to first responders and law enforcement personnel, followed by grocery stores and other essential workers.
