This is a WTWH Media marketing image for the DeviceTalks Tuesdays DeviceTalks Tuesday Surgical Robotics Week. The FDA’s clearance of Intuitive’s Da Vinci 5 Surgical system will certainly be felt across a surgical robotics sector that’s already making great gains in securing FDA nods and building markets outside the U.S.

To provide a deeper look into some of the higher-profile surgical robotics companies, our DeviceTalks Tuesdays webinar series next week will stretch its traditional one-day format over three days, giving time and attention to three high-profile surgical robotics companies, including Intuitive.

Attendees to the event will get an inside look at how these companies view their place in the OR today and in the future.

DeviceTalks Tuesdays registration is free. Viewers watching live will be able to submit questions. On-demand viewing is available but questions won’t be allowed.

All sessions start at 12 p.m. Eastern time (9 a.m. Pacific time). Here is the lineup.

On Tuesday, March 19, Kathryn Rieger, PhD, senior director of human factors and  user research at Intuitive, will present, “Intuitiveness – the Art of Recognizing that Humans Remain the Most Important Component of a Surgical Robotics System.”

Rieger will explain how the company continues to engage users — i.e. surgeons and OR staff  — to ensure that the touch point between human and machine remains — Intuitive.  Attendees will gain insight into how an optimized user experience can amplify care team abilities and improve patient outcomes.

On Wednesday, March 20, Nikolai Begg, senior director of portfolio R&D Robotic Surgical Technologies at Medtronic, will give a discussion titled “ Insights to Innovation: The Future of Surgery.” He will analyze the intersection of people and technology and look at its impact today, 10 years from now, and beyond. Medtronic’s Hugo RAS system holds a CE Mark and is undergoing clinical trials in pursuit of FDA approval.

Finally, on Thursday, March 21, the CTO and CMO of Virtual Incision, which sent a version of its robot to the International Space Station to perform a mock remote surgery, will demonstrate the power of its MIRA system’s miniaturization and remote technology. CTO  and Co-founder Shane Farritor, PhD, and CMO Dr. Piet Hinoul, PhD, will give a demonstration of both the MIRA and SpaceMIRA robots.
