GE Healthcare (NYSE:GE) and Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) today announced a collaboration focused on the growing need for outpatient care.
The collaboration, centered around the needs and demand for care at ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and office-based labs (OBLs), aims to offer customers access to extensive product portfolios, financial solutions and exceptional service.
GE Healthcare and Medtronic said in a news release that the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the movement of procedures into the outpatient environment, while CMS’ approval for payments for certain cardiovascular procedures in 2020 has led to the increased use of fixed c-arm imaging systems in ASCs and OBLs for cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures.
“GE Healthcare interventional imaging solutions are built to help our customers deliver care at a higher level for patients. With a predicted increase in outpatient cardiology and peripheral vascular procedures over the coming years, industry leaders like GE Healthcare need to understand and meet the unique needs of ASCs and OBLs,” GE Healthcare VP of Interventional Imaging Jim Rapp said in the release. “Our collaboration with Medtronic is one aspect of our efforts to strengthen efficiency, workflow, and clinical outcomes for ASCs and OBLs who work with GE Healthcare.”
GE Healthcare and Medtronic said they are looking to help ASCs navigate the challenges of high costs and complexities associated with expanding an existing ASC or building a new one. They plan to offer high-quality and cost-effective technologies, financial solutions and personal service.
In the collaboration, GE Healthcare will offer consultative planning, construction, a suite of equipment and digital solution services. Medtronic will provide its portfolio of products for an array of services in the ASC and OBL, including cardiac rhythm, pain management, peripheral vascular and kyphoplasty services.
