Our own pharma editor, Brian Buntz, has won national gold in the 2023 Azbee Awards of Excellence. The accolade from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) recognized Buntz’s coverage for Drug Discovery & Development, which was highlighted in the sister print publication of Medical Design & Outsourcing.
ASBPE is a widely recognized professional association for individuals involved in the B2B media industry. Since its founding in 1964, ASBPE has sought to help set high standards in the industry.
A string of other WTWH Media publications also won Azbee awards, including Medical Design & Outsourcing (MDO), Design World, Solar Power World and Restaurant Business. MDO received five national and nine regional Azbee Awards, including two national golds.
The award for the pharma feature was granted for a late 2021 interview with Eric Merle. Merle is the chief business innovation officer at Genoskin, a company that uses human tissue from surgical procedures to develop new drugs. This innovative approach provides a valuable alternative to animal testing
In a special March edition of MDO, Buntz also explored the potential applications of mRNA technology beyond COVID-19 vaccines, covering its potential use in treating heart conditions, cancer and a number of other infectious diseases.
In the May issue of MDO, Buntz provided a comprehensive analysis and ranking of the top-selling pharmaceuticals based on our Pharma 50 coverage.
In all, MDO won more than a dozen Azbee awards that recognize quality reporting, editing and design in business-to-business, trade, association and professional publications.
The Azbee Awards process is meticulous. Starting on November 1 each year, the ASBPE opens the call for entries, which continues until mid-January. B2B publications from across the U.S. are invited to submit their best work for consideration.
The Azbee Awards span a broad spectrum of categories, including feature writing, news analysis, technical content, layout and web design.
