announced today that it made a number of updates to its executive leadership team.

The changes follow the recent appointment of Ivan Tornos to CEO after Bryan Hanson left for the corner office at 3M Healthcare.

Amid the changes, Zimmer Biomet named Wilfred van Zuilen group president, EMEA, and promoted Mark Bezjack to president of the Americas. Warsaw, Indiana-based Zimmer Biomet also added Chief Science, Technology and Innovation Officer Dr. Nitin Goyal to its executive leadership team. All appointments report directly to Tornos.

van Zuilen joined Zimmer Biomet in June 2021 as president, EMEA. He continues to hold responsibility for sales, marketing and the distribution of products in that region. In his expanded group president role, he also leads select global R&D projects. His experience includes time as a regional VP at Medtronic, having also held posts at Covidien, Novartis and Edwards Lifesciences.

Bezjak, a veteran of more than 15 years at Zimmer Biomet, joined as director of corporate sales in April 2008. He has since held roles of increasing importance, most recently serving as president of North America, starting in 2021. His expanded responsibilities include adding oversight of Latin Americas for all commercial, downstream marketing and distribution activities in the region. Before joining Zimmer Biomet, Bezjak’s experience included roles with Teleflex and Michelin Tire Company.

Goyal joined Zimmer Biomet in June 2021 in the newly created position of chief science, technology and innovation officer. He continues to have oversight of all global innovation, medical education, clinical affairs and reimbursement strategy. Goyal now reports to Tornos with his appointment to the executive leadership team. A practicing adult hip and knee reconstruction surgeon, Goyal previously served as chief medical officer and SVP of innovation and digital care delivery at Rally Health. He also founded the Pulse Platform and Surgical Creations, serving as CEO and leading both companies from inception to acquisition.
