Canon (NYSE:CAJ) announced that it received FDA clearance for its compressed Speeder technology to speed up MRI scan times.
The Speeder technology, run on Canon Medical Systems USA’s Vantage Orian 1.5T MR system allows for clinicians to reconstruct full-resolution images from under-sampled data through iterative reconstruction, improving throughput and offering substantial amounts of time in between exams to clean or disinfect the scanner, if necessary.
Canon’s technology is also available on the Vantage Galan 3T MR system to support image acceleration and avoid unfolding error artifacts seen with standard parallel imaging.
Compressed Speeder is a part of a new version of Canon’s M-Power software that comes standard with Windows 10 and embedded with cybersecurity solutions from Canon Medical, keeping patient data secure, along with offering whitelisting functions for clinicians to have special access to authorized applications and processes, according to a news release.
