Cala Health announced today that it expanded its leadership team with a number of appointments, including new chief commercial and financial officers.
New executives joining the company — which develops bioelectronic medicines to provide new therapies for chronic diseases — hold experience from major players in the medtech space, including iRhythm, Johnson & Johnson, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Google and more.
The company also announced a new, larger headquarters in San Mateo, California. Cala designed the larger, LEED-certified building to support its growth as a flexible workspace with a high-functioning manufacturing and fulfillment center.
Joining Cala as chief commercial officer (CCO) is Doug Biehn, who most recently served as EVP of marketing at iRhythm. He was also COO at AliveCor and chief marketing officer at Blue Shield of California.

Tim Gallagher has been named CFO at Cala, having spent time in Amazon’s hardware division, Lab126 and Google. He most recently served as CFO at an unnamed startup in London that produces electronic keyboards.
“As CFO, my priority will be to focus commercial resources to maximize sales and marketing productivity, and ultimately build a predictable, repeatable, and scalable go-to-market model to establish Cala as the new standard of care,” Gallagher said.
Other appointments include former Jeron Evans as VP of sales, Deanna Harshbarger as VP of product and medical affairs and Bernard Shay as general counsel.
Evans previously served as VP and global head of the psoriasis franchise at UCB BioPharma. Harshbarger joins having spent 18 years in medtech, including positions at Medtronic, Boston Scientific and Johnson & Johnson. Shay, a senior medical device attorney, previously worked at GE, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Miramar Labs and Earlens Corporation.
