ZygoFix today said it received CE mark approval for its minimally invasive screwless spinal fusion system.
The Israel-based company designed its zLock spinal fusion system to treat chronic back pain.
ZygoFix’s zLock system has a miniature 3D-printed implant that uses the spine’s anatomy for spinal stability instead of a traditional external screw-based stabilization. The company said its rigid and bendable elements enable the implant to withstand loads applied to the spine while also conforming to each unique patient anatomy.
“Receiving CE Mark is a key event for the zLock system as a minimally invasive and safer solution for back pain sufferers. ZygoFix is opening a multi-center pivotal study in the EU to collect further clinical data,” CEO Ofer Levy said in a news release.
