This 1700-square-foot, ISO Class 8 cleanroom supports the expansion of Qosina’s pick and pack process, allows the company to increase capacity, and reduce lead times for customers.

During the design and construction phases, Qosina worked diligently to develop novel shipping techniques for its medical and bioprocessing components. Qosina’s new cleanroom has ten workstations designated for its scale counting and repacking process.

PBT is an alternative to the nylon used in many types of single-use medical device components, according to Qosina.

The 0.75 in. (19 mm) pinch clamps are now available in white (No. 25659), red (No. 25154), yellow (No. 25152), blue (No. 25156) and black (No. 25153) for use in color-coded sets.

The clamps have easy, one-handed closure — no tools needed, according to Qosina. The materials in the clamps meet USP Class VI and ISO 10993 criteria. They’re tamper-evident and zip-tie compatible — and gamma and autoclave compatible. They audibly click when securely connected, and they’re color-coded to distinguish between different fluid lines.

Qosina (Ronkonkoma, New York) announced today that it is adding to its luer lock connector product line to address a global Zytel nylon shortage.

The new selection of luer lock connectors is made of high-performance Vydyne that the company has in stock. As a result, the connectors are ready for immediate shipment. In addition, the connectors are REACH and RoHS compliant and come with regulatory documentation, CAD drawings and validation test data.

“We proactively assess the supply chain for our products for any potential issues and take steps to mitigate the risks of interruption,” Qosina CEO Scott Herskovitz said in a news release. “In the case of a resin supply issue, Qosina evaluates and sources compatible alternatives, ensuring our ongoing commitment to business continuity.”

Herskovitz replaces his father, Qosina founder Stuart Herskovitz, who will retain his seat on the board and serve as chairperson emeritus. He “continues to be fully involved in business development for the company,” Qosina said in a news release.

The younger Herskovitz took over for his father as president and CEO in 2018.

Herskovitz will be the AHRC Foundation’s Leadership Award Recipient at its 71st Annual Rose Ball Gala on Oct. 21, 2021 at The Mansion at Oyster Bay.

The foundation seeks to benefit people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

Herskovitz has advocated for the employment of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He’s promoted a neurodiverse workforce within his own company. On a personal level, he’s also shown devotion to his brother, Michael, according to the company.

Medtech and pharma components supplier Qosina announced that CEO Scott Herskovitz has been elected as an at-large board director of the Bio-Process Systems Alliance (BPSA).

The BPSA, an affiliated organization of the Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA), is an international industry association dedicated to encouraging and accelerating the adoption of single-use manufacturing technologies used in the production of biopharmaceuticals and vaccines. BPSA board members serve staggered two-year terms.

“I am honored to be elected as a BPSA board member and work alongside this highly respected group of industry leaders,” Herskovitz said in a news release out yesterday. “As a global supplier of single-use medical components, Qosina is committed to supporting the BPSA and their focus on the essential and safe utilization of single-use bioprocessing systems for the production of biopharmaceuticals and critical vaccines.”

OEM single-use component supplier Qosina announced earlier this month that it added 12 new filter options for fluid and gas applications.

Ronkonkoma, N.Y.-based Qosina’s filter product line includes offerings across a range of hydrophilic and hydrophobic filters, transducer protectors and an assortment of NRFit filters that are compliant with the ISO 80369-6 standard, according to a news release.

The company offers more than 50 filters that are available across a variety of styles, sizes, materials and colors. Its hydrophilic and hydrophobic options range between 0.1 micron and 5 micron for precise particle filtration, while its transducer protectors feature various inlet and outlet combinations, the company said.
