Qosina expands pinch clamp offerings

Qosina (Ronkonkoma, New York) announced today that it has a new selection of pinch clamps made from polybutylene terephthalate.

PBT is an alternative to the nylon used in many types of single-use medical device components, according to Qosina.

The 0.75 in. (19 mm) pinch clamps are now available in white (No. 25659), red (No. 25154), yellow (No. 25152), blue (No. 25156) and black (No. 25153) for use in color-coded sets.

The clamps have easy, one-handed closure — no tools needed, according to Qosina. The materials in the clamps meet USP Class VI and ISO 10993 criteria. They’re tamper-evident and zip-tie compatible — and gamma and autoclave compatible. They audibly click when securely connected, and they’re color-coded to distinguish between different fluid lines.

Qosina announces new luer lock connectors amid nylon shortage

Qosina (Ronkonkoma, New York) announced today that it is adding to its luer lock connector product line to address a global Zytel nylon shortage.

The new selection of luer lock connectors is made of high-performance Vydyne that the company has in stock. As a result, the connectors are ready for immediate shipment. In addition, the connectors are REACH and RoHS compliant and come with regulatory documentation, CAD drawings and validation test data.

“We proactively assess the supply chain for our products for any potential issues and take steps to mitigate the risks of interruption,” Qosina CEO Scott Herskovitz said in a news release. “In the case of a resin supply issue, Qosina evaluates and sources compatible alternatives, ensuring our ongoing commitment to business continuity.”

Qosina CEO takes over for founder as board chairperson

Qosina President and CEO Scott Herskovitz is now also the chairperson of the board of directors, the company said today.

Herskovitz replaces his father, Qosina founder Stuart Herskovitz, who will retain his seat on the board and serve as chairperson emeritus. He “continues to be fully involved in business development for the company,” Qosina said in a news release.

The younger Herskovitz took over for his father as president and CEO in 2018.

Founded in 1980, Ronkonkoma, New York-based Qosina is a global supplier of OEM single-use components for the medical and pharmaceutical industries.

Qosina’s founder and chair to be honored for work with developmentally disabled

The AHRC Foundation in Nassau County, N.Y. is honoring Qosina founder and chair Stuart Herskovitz.

Herskovitz will be the AHRC Foundation’s Leadership Award Recipient at its 71st Annual Rose Ball Gala on Oct. 21, 2021 at The Mansion at Oyster Bay.

The foundation seeks to benefit people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

Herskovitz has advocated for the employment of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He’s promoted a neurodiverse workforce within his own company. On a personal level, he’s also shown devotion to his brother, Michael, according to the company.
