Molex opens new Phillips-Medisize manufacturing facility

Molex today announced the opening of a new campus in Katowice, Poland, for Phillips-Medisize, its medical device contract development and manufacturing organization subsidiary.

The facility has 23,000 m² of manufacturing space, and Molex plans to later expand the facility to as much as 85,000 m².

Molex — owned by Wichita, Kansas-based Koch Industries — said it has invested $110 million in the campus. It will initially support Phillips-Medisize with production of pharmaceutical, medical and diagnostic devices.

The first facilities on the campus will have around 350 employees at planned capacity, including highly skilled production operators, design engineers and quality specialists, Molex said..

The companies teamed up to design and eventually commercialize a proprietary, non-invasive, wearable CGM device. They aim to remove the technology and patient-care roadblocks that exist within continuous glucose monitoring.

Phillips-Medisize develops drug delivery, in vitro diagnostic and medtech devices. Finland-based GlucoModicum utilizes magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) technology to quickly and easily extract a glucose sample. This technology applies a small amount of energy directly to interstitial fluid to drive it to the surface of the skin.

Phillips-Medisize, Exact Sciences to collaborate on colorectal cancer screening

Phillips-Medisize and Exact Sciences (NSDQ:EXAS) today announced a collaboration to advance early cancer detection.

The collaboration centers around Exact Sciences’ Cologuard, the first and only FDA-approved, non-invasive stool DNA screening test for colorectal cancer, according to a news release.

Phillips-Medisize, a Molex company, said the collaboration will seek to focus on the patient experience through the simplicity and convenience of at-home testing.
