Molex opens new Phillips-Medisize manufacturing facility

Molex today announced the opening of a new campus in Katowice, Poland, for Phillips-Medisize, its medical device contract development and manufacturing organization subsidiary.

The facility has 23,000 m² of manufacturing space, and Molex plans to later expand the facility to as much as 85,000 m².

Molex — owned by Wichita, Kansas-based Koch Industries — said it has invested $110 million in the campus. It will initially support Phillips-Medisize with production of pharmaceutical, medical and diagnostic devices.

The first facilities on the campus will have around 350 employees at planned capacity, including highly skilled production operators, design engineers and quality specialists, Molex said..

Most pharma executives see digital drug delivery as important, Molex says

A survey conducted by Molex and its Phillips-Medisize medical device delivery division highlights the importance of digitized drug delivery.

Lisle, Ill.-based Molex and Phillips-Medisize commissioned Dimensional Research to poll 215 qualified pharmaceutical professionals who are all stakeholders in a range of digital drug delivery devices, according to a news release.

Molex taps former Ecolab SVP to run its medical business, including Phillips-Medisize

Paul Chaffin, SVP of Molex’s Medical and Pharmaceutical Solutions division

Paul Chaffin — most recently SVP of enterprise initiatives at Ecolab — has become SVP in charge of Molex’s Medical and Pharmaceutical Solutions division, including contract manufacturing giant Phillips-Medisize.
