Dymax announced that it released the HLC-M-1000, the first product in its new hybrid light-curable (HLC) series of adhesives.

The patent-pending adhesive platform combines anionic and free radical chemistries into one formulation. HLC adhesives exhibit the physical and performance properties of Dymax light-curable adhesives and the rapid moisture/contact cure of anionics. Contact curing enables instant bonding in dark areas and to a broad range of substrates. That includes opaque and light-blocking materials.

According to the Torrington, Connecticut-based company, primary advantages of HLC materials include fast cure under very low intensity. The materials also offer limited-to-no blooming with proper light cure, better aesthetics, humidity resistance and more flexible bond joints. Substrates don’t need to be translucent, while exposure to light curing increases bond integ…

Dymax releases 1040-M adhesive for repeated sterilizations

Dymax has released its new 1040-M adhesive for surgical tools and devices that are subject to repeated autoclave or Sterrad plasma sterilization.

The new adhesive has extremely low water absorption of 0.5% and is designed to be autoclave resistant for more than 100 cycles, the Torrington, Connecticut-based manufacturer said in a news release. The material can also protect sensors, RFID chips and other electronic components as an encapsulant.

The material cures quickly when exposed to broad-spectrum UV light and is optimized to be LED curable at a wavelength of 365 nm, Dymax said. The 1040-M adhesive bonds to stainless steel, aluminum, glass, PP/PE, PCB and other substrates, and can be used for medical devices such as scopes, vials, tools and dental equipment.

Dymax also said that 1040-M meets the requirements for ISO 10993-5 cytotoxicity, is formulated without IBOA, has a…
