CVS Health to buy Signify Health for $8B

CVS Health (NYSE:CVS) announced that it entered into an agreement to acquire Signify Health for approximately $8 billion.

Home healthcare services company Signify Health offers clinical, social, and behavioral services to support value-based healthcare. It provides a mobile network of 10,000 credentialed clinicians who offer in-home evaluations of Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plan members.

CVS said in a news release that Signify Health’s clinicians and providers will engage with CVS Health’s collection of assets, connecting patients to care how and when they need it.

Pfizer appoints new chief financial officer

Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) has named David M. Denton as its new chief financial officer (CFO) and executive vice president.

Denton, who now serves as CFO of Lowe’s Companies, will officially take the role on May 2.

Before taking on his role at Lowe’s (NYSE:LOW), Denton served as the CFO of CVS Health (NYSE:CVS). Denton oversaw CVS’s $70 billion acquisition of the managed health care company Aetna.

Denton has more than 20 years of experience working in the healthcare sector.

Pfizer’s current CFO, Frank D’Amelio, has had a 15-year career at the company.

Medable and CVS Health partner to expand clinical trial access

Medable and CVS Health (NYSE:CVS) announced yesterday that they will collaborate to expand clinical trial access and engagement.

Under the collaboration, Medable’s software platform will be combined with CVS Health’s community reach and experienced MinuteClinic providers to deliver clinical trials in a manner that improves patient access, engagement and retention. According to a news release, CVS Health Clinical Trial Services will manage the relationship.

Medable designed its digital platform to streamline design, recruitment, retention and data quality for decentralized trials, replacing siloed systems with integrated digital tools, data and interfaces to accelerate trial execution.
