Covalon Technologies names longtime 3M, BD exec as CEO

Covalon Technologies (TSXV:COV) announced today that it appointed Brent Ashton as its new CEO and as a board director.

Ashton’s appointment goes into effect immediately. The medtech industry veteran has experience leading large business units for wound care, vascular access, infection prevention and diagnostics. His track record includes time spent at large medtech companies like 3M and BD.

Covalon develops technologies and solutions for advanced wound care, infection prevention, and medical device coatings. The company believes that, with his broad experience, Ashton can lead the company into its next phase of growth and development.

Board Chair Amir Boloor has served as interim CEO since September when former CEO Brian Pedlar departed the corner office.

Covalon announces CEO departure, search for permanent replacement

Covalon Technologies (TSXV:COV) announced today that it named Amir Boloor as interim CEO following the departure of Brian Pedlar.

Boloor serves as chair of the company’s board. As he takes on an executive role, the board appointed Joseph Cordiano to serve as lead independent director.

Mississauga, Ontario-based Covalon commenced a search for a permanent CEO. Pedlar remains on the company’s board of directors.

Covalon appoints interim CFO

Covalon Technologies (TSXV:COV) announced today that it appointed Jason F. Gorel as its interim chief financial officer.

Mississauga, Ontario-based Covalon said in a news release that Gorel will assume the role as the company undertakes the search for a new CFO to assist with the next phase of growth.

Gorel has more than 20 years of experience in senior financial leadership roles, both in the private and public sectors, Covalon said. He has held the role of CFO at several companies, including Toronto Community Housing Corporation and BCS Global Networks.

He also held senior finance positions with SmartCentres Real Estate Investment Trust and Canadian Apartment Properties Real Estate Investment Trust. Gorel also serves on the board of directors at Fairplay Ventures and has served on the board at the Hearing Foundation of Canada.
