4WEB Medical this week announced it received regulatory clearance for its Anterior Spine Truss System with Anchor Fixation (ASTS-AF).

The Dallas-based orthopedic implant company’s current anterior lumbar implant offering includes a traditional interbody with the option of an integrated plate and a standalone interbody with screw fixation. The regulatory clearance expands the company’s portfolio to deliver anchor fixation through a less invasive surgical approach instead of traditional integrated spacers.

Anchor fixation allows for easier implantation in challenging patient anatomy. According to 4WEB, it provides comparable mechanical stability to traditional standalone ALIF systems with screw fixation and allows multiple options for securing the interbody to the vertebrae.

The plating solutions have a variety of modular plating configurations to address multiple lumbar spine pathologies and approaches.

“Our continued commitment to new product development led to revenue growth in FY 2020 driven by the launch of the Stand Alone Cervical and ALIF product lines,” senior VP of sales and marketing Jim Bruty said in a news release. “The Lumbar Plating Solution will contribute significantly to 2021 top-line growth by enabling surgeon customers to utilize the company’s Truss implant technology in more advanced lateral procedures such as anterior longitudinal ligament release techniques.”

The plating device has one, two and four screw options and has a single-step locking mechanism to prevent screw back out, according to the company.

4Web Medical this week said it received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Stand-Alone Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion Device.

The fusion device is designed to allow fixation screws to be placed through the truss implant and into the adjacent vertebral bodies to create a zero-profile stand-alone construct that removes the need for supplemental fixation.

The device features single-step locking mechanisms and incorporates the company’s Truss Implant Technology to transfer strain to adjacent cellular material to stimulate mechanobiologic response.
