Argon Medical Devices acquires Matrex Mold and Tool

Argon Medical Devices — maker of devices for interventional procedures — announced today that it has bought plastic injection molding provider Matrex Mold and Tool.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Frisco, Texas–based Argon has been a customer of Wisconsin-based Matrex for more than 25 years.

5 pediatric electrophysiology devices you need to know

The National Capital Consortium for Pediatric Device Innovation recently announced five electrophysiology devices that could monitor and treat congenital heart disease and arrhythmia in pediatric patients.

The five winners of the annual NCC-PDI “Make Your Medical Device Pitch for Kids!” competition will share a $150,000 grant funding from the FDA to support the advancement of pediatric medical devices.

The competition was conducted by NCC-PDI partner Medtech Innovator and was part of the 9th annual Symposium on Pediatric Device Innovation.

Congenital heart defects are the most common type of birth defect, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It affects six out of 1,000 babies born in the U.S. each year and is often complicated by arrhythmias. Quasar Engineering acquires Creganna Medical

Quasar Engineering announced that it acquired TE Connectivity subsidiary Creganna Medical.

Through the acquisition of Creganna, which constitutes TE Connectivity’s medical operations in Singapore, Quasar aims to expand its footprint in Asia, complement its capabilities and add an experienced team in Singapore, which it considers an important global medical device hub.

BD commits $500,000 to reduce healthcare inequities in the U.S.

BD (NYSE:BDX) this week announced that it committed $500,000 to improve the quality of care and reduce health inequities in the U.S.

Franklin Lakes, N.J.-based BD will award health-focused relief organization Americares $250,000 annually for the next two years to support a multi-year project that will collect demographic and patient health outcome data from free and charitable clinics nationwide.

Fareva, ApiJect ink 10-year licensing agreement on fill-finish production lines

Fareva and ApiJect Systems today announced a licensing agreement to fill-finish more than 500 million injectable drug doses per year.

Under the agreement, Fareva intends to invest more than $56.5 million to install three blow-fill-seal production lines with support from the Government of France through the France Relance industry initiative, as well as the Investments for the Future Program (PIA).

Evonik invests in Revivo BioSystems and its compound-testing technology

Evonik announced that it invested in startup Revivo BioSystems to support the development and commercialization of its technology.

Essen, Germany-based Evonik said in a news release that Revivo BioSystems develops technology that uses a realistic 4D model of human skin to test chemical, cosmetic and pharmaceutical compounds, offering an alternative to animal testing that can be quicker, more reliable and more cost-efficient.

Singapore-based Revivo’s organ-on-a-chip technology automates testing and sampling procedures in addition to simulating the interaction of human skin with the substance being tested. Skin tissues grown in a laboratory (or a human skin sample) are placed on biochips that are supplied with nutrients and reagents, creating a micro-environment for the tissue models, which reproduce the architecture and functions of skin.

Fresenius Medical Care earns ‘B’ rating for climate protection measures

Fresenius Medical Care announced today that it received a positive rating for its efforts in climate protection.

According to a news release, the company garnered a “B” rating from the nonprofit organization CDP, marking its place in the second-highest categories.

Fresenius said it received a “B” in the climate area and a “B-” in the water area. The company said the rating solidifies its place as one of the leading companies in the healthcare sector with regard to climate protection measures.

Companies listed in “A” and “B” categories are characterized by transparency, coordinated climate protection measures and the implementation of corresponding best-practice approaches.

Artio Medical to build manufacturing facilities in Kansas

Artio Medical today announced that it received the green light to build commercial manufacturing operations in Kansas.

The City council in Olathe, Kansas approved a development agreement that granted land to Prairie Village, Kansas-based Artio Medical to build two commercial manufacturing buildings. The company plans to build an initial 50,000+ sq. ft facility on the 18-acre parcel land.

Veranex today announced that it has acquired medtech design firm Worrell for an undisclosed amount.

Raleigh, N.C.-based Veranex delivers strategic, operations and financial benefits to medical device companies and engineers that are developing breakthrough technologies, according to the company. The acquisition of Worrell will expand its offerings and geographic reach.

Movia Robotics launches TheraPal digital health aide for neurodiverse individuals

Movia Robotics this week announced that it has launched its TheraPal line of digital health aides for autism spectrum disorder and other intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Bristol, Connecticut-based Movia Robotics released its TheraPal Progress Tracker, TheraPal Home and TheraPal Clinical assist aides for use in homes and clinician offices.
