Merit Medical Systems (NASDAQ: MMSI) today announced the U.S. launch of its PreludeSync EZ radial compression device.
South Jordan, Utah–based Merit Medical described the PreludeSync EZ as a unique cinch-style wristband. The company designed it to provide precise two-handed placement and clear visibility of the access site.
The goal is to optimize bleeding prevention for radial artery procedures. Think catheter-based delivery systems. For example, a doctor will run a catheter through a pinhole-sized site in the wrist to conduct minimally invasive scans and procedures around the heart.
The PreludeSync EZ provides a simplified alternative to the two-strap compression band currently on the market, according to the company. In addition, the PreludeSync EZ’s design features include a large window that provides clear visibility to further assist precise placement.

Lampropoulos said in a news release. “By listening to physician feedback, we transformed clinical needs into an advanced compression device that complements our expansive portfolio of solutions designed to support radial artery access procedures and deliver better patient care.”
The PreludeSync EZ joins Merit Medical’s radial portfolio of products, including the Prelude IDeal — a thin-walled hydrophilic sheath introducer with special kink and compression resistance.
Merit Medical Systems creates and distributes proprietary disposable medical devices used in interventional, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The company has primarily focused on the cardiology, radiology, oncology, critical care and endoscopy spaces.
