Another Medtronic veteran is leaving the company to take on new challenges elsewhere, and this time it involves BD.

Brooke Story will become worldwide president of BD Integrated Diagnostic Solutions, effective April 5. Story has been at Medtronic for 15 years, most recently serving as president of Pelvic Health and Gastric Therapies at the medtech giant.

At BD, Story will be in charge of worldwide strategic, operational and commercial performance and customer experience across a diagnostic continuum including specimen management, molecular diagnostics, microbiology, and women’s health and cancer. She’ll report to Dave Hickey, president of BD Life Sciences.

“Given the elevated importance of diagnostics during a pandemic, there is no better time for a leader like Brooke to join the BD team. Her passion for leading high-performing teams and her commitment to authentic leadership will enable BD to further our purpose of advancing the world of health,” Hickey said in a news release out today.

Medtronic has seen a number of executive departures recently as its CEO Geoff Martha leads the world’s largest medical device company through a major reorganization.

Mike Coyle, the former EVP and president of Cardiovascular at Medtronic, took the CEO role at wearable heart rhythm company iRhythm. Ellie Humphrey left her role as VP of enterprise excellence and business transformation at Medtronic to become SVP and chief transformation officer at Zimmer Biomet.

Martha recently told the MassDevice-affiliated DeviceTalks Weekly podcast that some executive departures are not unexpected during a major reorganization. “The point is we want to invest in people,” Martha said. “There will be turnover because we’re going to be a talent factory, but we’re also going to be attracting a better talent on the front end. … If you want to be a talent factory, that’s one of the things you’ve got to contend with.”
