KeyCare announced today that it closed $24 million in a Series A financing round for its virtual-first care platform built with Epic.
Chicago-based KeyCare designed a platform for offering health systems the ability to easily augment care teams, optimize capacity and widen digital front doors through partnerships with a nationwide network of virtual care group.
On the platform, patients can can schedule appointments with a variety of Virtualists via their own health system’s MyChart portal or call center. Virtualists then complete the encounter on KeyCare’s Epic platform, completing what KeyCare described in a news release as a “seamless experience” with interoperable records.
The funding round was backed by 8VC, LRVHealth, Bold Capital, and Spectrum Health Ventures, KeyCare said.
“People expect a connected and convenient digital care experience,” said Alan Hutchison, VP of population health at Epic. “Rather than routing them through a disconnected, standalone system, KeyCare unifies the virtual care experience in concert with participating hospitals and health systems.”
KeyCare last month launched its system by providing services to BHSH System’s Spectrum Health West Michigan Division. The company intends to use the proceeds of the Series A to increase its staff and to prepare for potential growth sparked by demand for virtual care services form large healthcare organizations.

KeyCare said that it, along with Spectrum Health, will be presenting more details about their innovative use of the Epic platform and its Telehealth Anywhere technology at Epic’s User Group Meeting from Aug. 22 to 24 in Verona, Wisconsin.
