GE Healthcare AMC HealthGE Healthcare announced today that it partnered with AMC Health to offer remote patient monitoring (RPM) as a virtual care solution.

The collaboration allows clinicians to offer RPM virtually to extend patient care outside the hospital to the home environment. They aim to combine GE Healthcare’s acute patient monitoring capabilities in the hospital with AMC’s expertise in RPM.

According to a news release, GE Healthcare and AMC plan to leverage an FDA-cleared platform with analytics. They expect it to extend the continuum of non-acute care for patients after hospital discharge.

“Pairing AMC Health’s remote patient monitoring suite with GE Healthcare’s clinical monitoring offering will extend care beyond the clinical setting and enable more patients to continue to receive quality care from the comfort of their homes, delivering healthcare without limits,” said Ashutosh Banerjee, GM, diagnostic cardiology and remote patient monitoring, GE Healthcare. “AMC Health was selected as our partner due to their established and proven success engaging with patients to measure numerous biometrics in the home to extend the continuum of care.”

The AMC Health platform

AMC Health’s RPM platform and data analytics offer hospitals, payers and providers a way to implement strategies for care coordination. Its holistic solution allows a clinical team to focus on the whole patient and their health conditions. Patients receive an easy-to-use, convenient monitoring platform with near-real-time data provided to clinicians to support treatment decisions.

Chronic conditions monitored by the platform include diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. The care team receives episodic data to create a complete picture of the patient’s condition.

The companies intend for their collaboration to influence healthy behaviors. They also expect that, with clinician guidance, it can promote self-management for chronic conditions. They say their collaboration addresses a market need for a scalable RPM solution with analytics and risk stratification. The companies believe coupling AMC’s solution suite with GE’s large U.S. install base could expand the offerings around the country.

“We are excited about this collaboration with GE Healthcare,” said Nesim Bildirici, CEO of AMC Health. “AMC Health is proud to align with a global leader in healthcare innovation and add our suite of RPM and Virtual Care Solutions to their extensive portfolio of global health system and hospital monitoring solutions.”

GE Healthcare said RPM is complementary to its existing hospital-based virtual care environments. The two companies hope to integrate hospital and home data into the Edison Health database so hospitals can monitor patients post-discharge.
