Esaote North America announced today that the FDA approved its new Magnifico Open MRI whole-body system.

Fishers, Indiana-based Esaote designed the Magnifico Open MRI system with the aim of bridging the gap between traditional musculoskeletal imaging and whole-body imaging.

According to a news release, the company’s new MRI system includes advanced technologies that offer versatility in imaging, including a reduction in examination time, optimal diagnostic image quality, real-time imaging ideal for sports medicine injuries and high quality for post-surgical patients with metal implants thanks to metal artifact reduction (MAR).

Esaote North America Manager of MRI Sales and Marketing, Stephen Gibbs, said the platform is optimal for patient comfort and includes an open-gantry design and a compact size.

“As MRI backlogs continue to rise, the demand for high-performance MRI is at an all-time high”, Esaote North America President and GM Robert Lewis said in the release. “Now is the right time to bring open whole-body MRI to the US market, to help ease these scheduling challenges, while freeing up time slots on overloaded systems to accommodate more patients at the point of care.”
