Exactech total hip arthroplasty system spartan stem logical cupExactech announced today that the first successful surgeries were completed with its Spartan Stem and Logical Cup systems.

Gainesville, Florida-based Exactech designed the systems for total hip arthroplasty.

The Spartan Stem features three offset options and a tapered, polished distal segment, while the Logical Cup, a modular acetabular system, enables an efficient surgical workflow in hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers, the company said in a news release.

Dr. Hasham Alvi of Barrington Orthopedic Specialists in Schaumburg, Illinois, was the first in the U.S. to perform the procedure with the Spartan Stem and Logical Cup systems.

Exactech has commenced a pilot launch for the Spartan Stem and Logical Cup systems in limited regions across the U.S. during the third quarter of 2022, the company said. It intends to expand its commercial launch into most geographies across the country in the first half of next year.
