The City council in Olathe, Kansas approved a development agreement that granted land to Prairie Village, Kansas-based Artio Medical to build two commercial manufacturing buildings. The company plans to build an initial 50,000+ sq. ft facility on the 18-acre parcel land.

Through the agreement, Artio Medical can build a second building on the parcel and is cleared to acquire adjacent land for a third building to potentially bring the total project to over 150,000 sq. ft.

“We are pleased to announce the approval of this development agreement,” Olathe Chamber of Commerce CEO Tim McKee said in a news release. “Artio had several options for locating its commercial manufacturing operations and we are delighted with their decision to keep these jobs in the U.S. and bring them to Olathe.”

The company said it will create more than 200 new jobs in the area. Artio Medical selected Copaken Brooks as advisors and developers on the project.

“This is an exciting time for Artio as we prepare for the commercialization of our first products and scale our commercial manufacturing capability,” Wendy Sawyer, senior VP of operations and quality for Artio Medical, said. “The combination of a skilled workforce, a community with an exceptional and affordable quality of life, the availability of adjacent land to accommodate future growth, and an attractive incentive package made Olathe the right choice.”

Artio Medical currently develops devices that are designed to treat peripheral vascular, neurovascular and structural heart diseases.
